Bible Marking System
As you read and study God’s Word, you can make your study more meaningful by marking your Bible.  You can use symbols &/or colors, underlining &/or highlighting.  Some ideas are listed below, pick and choose what is meaningful to you or make up your own.
Hearts &/or Pink for passages that remind you of God’s love or make you love Him.
 Dt 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
1Jn 3:1 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!
Stars for promises you find.
Nu 24:17 I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near.  A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel.
Arrows for passages that cut you to the quick and convict you.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Question marks for passages that you have questions about or don’t understand.
? Lk 2:46 After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions. 
Exclamation points for passages that surprise or wow you.
! Hab 1:5 "Look at the nations and watch and be utterly amazed.  For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told." 
Interrabang (combination question mark & exclamation point) for simultaneous questioning and astonishment.
!? Mt 8:27 The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this?Even the winds and the waves obey him!" 
!? Ac 2:12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?"
Keys for a key verse, word, or concept.
Isa 33:6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. 
Check &/or Blue for To Dos, how to live right(eously).
Isa 1:17 Learn to do right!Seek justice, encourage the oppressed.Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.
International symbol for "NO" &/or Black for Sin to avoid.
Ro 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Lightning bolt &/or Orange for Judgment, Hell, Day of the LORD’s wrath.
Hab 3:11-12 Sun and moon stood still in the heavens at the glint of your flying arrows, at the lightning of your flashing spear. In wrath you strode through the earth and in anger you threshed the nations. 
Cross or drop of blood &/or Red for atonement, Christ’s death, blood of Jesus.

Green for passages that mention God as Creator.
Col 1:16 For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
Triangles for passages about the Trinity.
Mt 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Infinity/Eternity symbol or Yellow for Heaven or rewards.
Mt 5:12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
